I'm so very happy to have finally found my clan. It's been difficult as my father, Frank Calvin Dailey, died when I was 7 and I did not remain close to that side of the family. Frank had a brother, Howard, who had a son, Dan. Howard is likely dead and Dan...probably in his 50's now (I'm 42). My grandfather's name was Forest O. Dailey and we all are/were from the northeast Ohio (Medina county) area. I hope to continue my search and any help or just contact will be enjoyed and appreciated.

I am researching my family history. I have a Catherine Daly that was born in Kilfalleny County Kerry, Ireland on December 04, 1843. Her father was Cornelius Daly but I don't know her mother's name. She came to Belle Plaine, Minnesota in 1858 and married Michael Moriarty. Together they had 13 kids. If anybody can contribute to this, I'd appreciate it.

Looking for information on my family tree, just beginning my DALY search! My father was Michael Joseph Daly born in 1927 in county CAVAN immigrated to US in 1950's (all his siblings are still in Ireland) His parents were JAMES DALY who married Katie Glenn and had 10 children.(Michael, James, Patrick, Susan, Mary, Theresa, Philemenia, Roseanne, Kathleen and Johnny) I know nothing about my grandfather except he married my grandmother sometime in the 1920's and was about 50 years old at the time, and was retired policeman. He died when my dad was a teenager , I believe. And no one really talks about him. I know he had brothers & sisters but don't know their names. Any info would be appreciated. Just wondering if I had any relatives in the US. Thanks

I am Daniel Joseph Daly of Omaha, NE--the son of Paul Jennings Daly, born 1906 in St. Joseph, MO to John Daly (who, I believe, was a carpenter with the MOPAC Railroad) and Bertha Davis Daly. My father married Helen Merydith Lysaght, the daughter of Leo Lysaght and Helen Todd Lysaght. Leo was the son of Dan Lysaght, who owned a lumber yard in St. Joseph, Mo. Helen Todd was allegedly connected somehow with Mary Todd Lincoln, but I have my doubts about that little story. Paul and Merydith had eight children. I was their fifth child. The others are Patricia Ann, Paul Russell, Carol Joan, Mary Margaret, Timothy Francis (d. 1991), Mary Susan, and Mark Joseph. My father, who died in 1992, had brothers Merrill, Ed, and Thomas. If any of this family history sounds familiar to Dalys who originated in Missouri or possibly Virginia or West Virginia and probably came over from Cork in the 1850's, I'd appreciate hearing more. I can probably dig up quite a bit more myself, if you'll excuse the expression. My best regards to all.

My mother was Grace G. Daly Ford. In her honor I have compiled a complete genealogy of "The Descendants of Crohan Daly in America". It traces the Crohan Daly family from their emigration from County Kerry in 1863 to Boston, Massachusetts, and thereafter. It is a remarkable record of an Irish family in America. It may be found at http://people.ne.mediaone.net/pford/index.htm

Looking for anyone with a connection to PATRICK and MARY DALY, who received a land grant and settled in Richmond Corner, Carleton Co., New Brunswick in the 1820s. Children include James, Ellen, William, Margaret, Mary Ann, Catherine, and Elizabeth. I believe my ggggrandmother MARY ANN DALY (not the one who was their child) was related to Patrick somehow, being in the same area at the same time and no other Dalys about. (Another person posted a query last year about the same family but the note I sent to this person just bounced back-oh, well!) I'm hoping someone researching this family may have some clues that could help me verify this connection. I believe my Mary Ann was from Clonfeacle Parish, Co. Tyrone. Thanks!

PETER DAILEY. Seeking information related to Peter Dailey who, according to family history, came to America from Dublin, Ireland, in about 1750. His son James, reportedly, was born at sea. Other Dailey children included Owen and Peter. (There may be more.) The family was found in PA, VA/WV, and OH during the early years. A Peter Dailey has been located in Salem, MA, in 1753, but concrete connection has not been made. My email is jmac1@apex.net . Glad to share information. Thanks. John McDonald - Murray, KY.

I am currently researching Mary Daly (b. abt 1806, d. Dec 15, 1881) married to Daniel O'Brien in Franklin County New York. (Franklin County has limited birth marriage and death records for some years due to fires and floods.) She is listed in the Ft. Covington NY 1840 census as married with all of her children age 10 or under. I believe that she is the child of John and Catherine Daly who came in 1825 with Peter Robinson's Settlers. It was not unususal for these settlers to come to the Jefferson County area. A John Daly is listed in the history of Ft. Covington, and If she is of this family she would have come from St. Mary, Shandon, Co. Cork. (many of the other Ft. Covington families are from this area as well)There are some Daly inscription plaques in the church in Charleville, Cork. Her father John would have been a cooper. Her mother was probably a Mary also. I believe that she had siblings; Bridget, Eugene, George, Henry, James, John, Michael and William. I have barely begun to look for her siblings in the NY area, but I believe that at least some of them are there. Mary Daly and her husband Daniel O'Brien had children:Fanny, Mary, Daniel, Thomas, James, Nora, Bridget, Ellen and Louis. If you can shed any light on this at all I would certainly appreciate it. Thanks Colleen-

I read several inquirys and have been looking at the different sites. It appears to me that the Daly, Dailey, Dayley etc. lines go through the same line listed for the Royal Family O'Neill until about 681 A.D. (#93 Maelduin or Maoldoon) King of Ailech (671-681 A.D.) then goes through his younger son Adaimh down through Muireadhach (Daly Clan Geneology)and then being the poets or bards Muredach O'Dalaigh went to Scotland after falling out of favor(from the Clan Currie site)and Donnchadh Mor O Dalaigh his brother remained in Ireland. I am trying to link up from here to James Dayley born about 1811 in Eastern Ohio to Jacob Dayley and Elizabeth Baker who is my great, great grandfather. He joined the Mormon Church in 1832 and went through the Hauns Mill Massacre in Missouri, went to Nauvoo, then to Iowa and Nebraska, then to Utah, then to Idaho in the late 1870's. He had 21 children. Some of these went to Nebraska, Texas and other areas. I would like to find his ancestors in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and back through to Ireland ancestors. It is ironic my father who died in 1997 at age 92 was a poet who wrote 100'sof poems. It is interesting to note the likenesses also in the crests of the other families from these common ancestors. Would appreciate any help or information.

Hello, Daly's! My ggrandfather, John Daly, b 1798-99, emigrated from Cork around 1849-50. Mary and the children followed later. They settled in Fall River, MA, and here's the list of their children from the 1860 census: William, 27, Fireman; Miles, 24, Weaver; John, 22, Twister; Mary, 20, Weaver; Johannah, 17, Weaver; Catherine, 13, Weaver Honora, 12; Michael, 10; and Charles, 5 (my grandfather). All born in Ireland, except Charles, and all in small towns near Buttevant, like Churchtown, Liskelly, Ballyviheen, and Kilbrony. If this matches up with anyone in your family tree, please let me know. I've been unable to trace the children (except for Charles) much later than 1865, but know that their children and granchildren must be everywhere! Let me hear from you; I'd be very pleased. Oh, Mary's maiden name was O'Mahony.

My gr-grandfather was James Martin DALY baptized 18 Jun 1850 at St Michael's [RC] Parish in Limerick. The spelling in the parish register was DEELY but he's mine based on other info we have. His parents were Michael DEELY [sic] and Johanna O'BRIEN. There were two other children baptized at St Michael's too: John in Apr 1848 and Michael in Nov 1854. Only vague stories have been passed down but it sounds like Michael & Johanna had around 10 kids. John, James, and Michael three ended up in Chemung Co NY / Bradford Co PA. John & James (at least) served with the Prince Consort's Own Rifle Brigade. James' godparents were Jeremiah DEELY [sic] and Mary GRANY. Since I've had a tough time finding more of this family I'm wondering if anyone is descended from JEREMIAH DALY who lived in Limerick town in the mid- to late-1800s. Thanks!

It has been a long time since I last posted anything on this board, but I read it every day, hoping to make another connection. I'm looking for any DALYs, MURRAYs, RYANs or CONSIDINEs who may have roots in Killadysert(one of several spellings), county Clare. My great grandparents, Michael Daly and Margaret Murray emigrated to Buffalo NY sometime between 1877 and 1883 with six childen that I know about. I don't know if they all came together or not, but the first record I have found of any of the family is a marriage in 1879, and they were all in Buffalo by 1883. The children were John, Michael, Martin(my grandfather), Patrick, Thomas and Bridget. They all lived, married and had children in Buffalo except Patrick, who ended up in Chicago where he married and raised a family. I have found many baptismal, marriage and burial records for the family in Buffalo and Joe Daly from Chicago has sent me some information about Patricks descendants, but have found no Irish records at all. I understand the parish church in Kildysart has records back to 1829, but have found nobody to look at them. Any takers?

Hi - Mike Daly here from Minneapolis, MN. My Grandfather John Daly grew up and settled at his farm in Graceville MN around 1920. His wife Margaret had four children - Daniel, Kathleen, Peter and Lanore(spelling?). It certainly is interesting to read these posts - didn't realize the "Daly clan" was so big. Any of my relatives out there reading this? Drop me a line - it'd be nice to catch up - with some of you anyway. Just kidding.

My name is Tim Daly, I've done quite a bit digging to find out about my families' history.I've heard some of the Daly clan were a royal family exiled from Spain(I don't know how true this is.) I do know the Daly's were one of the thirteen tribes of Isreal. They are from the tribe of Judah(more specifically Zara). The Bible tells of a great exodus out of Egypt, the Daly,s were amongst these people.the clan headed out across the Mediteranian Sea and landed in Spain.Zaragossa was the place, and still is full of Dali's.Although 99% of Daly's would argue we all come from Ireland, I think the clan is a wee bit older. Sincerely, Timothy P. Daly

I am seeking any information on my Daly family. GGG grandparents, Edward Daly and Bridget, were born in Ireland probably around the 1780's. Have searched many passenger lists (Famine lists, etc.) and other records, but haven't found any thing yet. Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Dalys! I am searching for an 1844(or earlier) marriage record for MICHAEL DAILY/DAILEY/DAYLY/DALY AND SARAH ELIZABETH O'HARE. They emigrated in 1850 with their daughter MARY ( bn. 31 Dec 1845) and son JOHN (bn. 8 Sep 1847/8 ). I am also searching for birth/baptismal records for Mary and John. I have been unable to find them in the excellent County Armagh RC parish registers where my father's cousin said Mary, his grandmother stated they originated. They settled in Port Washington, New Jersey in 1850. They attended mass in St.Peter's RC Church, in New Brunswick, N.J. where I found baptismal records for THOMAS(1851), SARAH J.(1854) and ELLEN(1856). A Bernard COSGROVE was Thomas' godfather and Mary Lynch his godmother. John, my g grandfather, Married Bridget McCANN Jun 1870. The witnesses /sponsors were Julia and Ellen Rooney. I suspect related to John or Bridget. Perhaps, Michael met and married Sarah in County Down, Antrim, Louth, or Monaghan where he went for work. I believe she was from County Armagh. I find that Michael is a very popular given name for Daly men. If any of you are searching Ulster indexes of birth, baptisms or marr- iages in Belfast, I would be most appreciative of some assistance and would reimburse any expense. Regards from...Leo J. Cannon..sunny Florida

I have just started researching my family history, and I really need to be pointed in the right direction. As far as has been traced back, my great great grandfather lived in Musselburgh, Scotland in 1850's. I always thought that Dailey was a Scottish spelling of this Irish name. There is a town in Ayrshire that I onced visited, by the name of Dailly, so that is why I thought that it was also a Scottish name. I have never been able to associate my name with any Scottish clan, but after looking up this site, I now know that I belong to the Irish Daly clan. I know that the Scots and Irish share some names, though. Does this mean that at some time, my family emigrated to Scotland from Ireland?
