Mrs. T. Cooney Called to Her Eternal Home

Lifetime Resident of Community Passed Away Friday A.M.

Lawler -- Mrs. Nellie Landinna Cooney, 66 years old, a lifetime resident of this community, passed away at her home, Friday morning at 12:30 following several months illness.

Nellie Feeney was born March 1, 1879 at Lawler, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Feeney. She received her education in the Lawler school and on April 16, 1912 she was united in marriage to Thos. H. Cooney at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Lawler. They made their home on their farm north of town until two years ago they retired and moved to town.

She is survived by her husband Thomas Cooney, one daughter, Eileen (R.N.) of Mason City and once son, Ray of Lawler. She is also survived by two sisters and two brothers, Mae and Lillian Feeney, and Leo Feeney of Lawler, and Frank Feeney of Kellog, Minn.

Mrs. Cooney was a devout Catholic, a member of the Rosary Society and of the Catholic Daughters, and when death claimed her she was well prepared to meet her Maker. A kind indulgent and devoted wife and mother, kind hearted, understanding, endowed with a fine quality of friendliness, she was ever faithful to her family and they will remember her as a loving un-selfish wife and mother. She was patient, always endeavoring to make herself worthy of the constant love and attention of a truly devoted family.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church with Rev. James F. Delay, pastor singing the requiem high mass for the repose of her soul. The members of the Catholic Daughters of which the deceased was a member marched in a body. Burial was in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Pall bearers were: Harry Kane, Leo O'Connor, Ray Nulty, Frank O'Byrne, James Gluzok and Carlyle Joh(indecipherable).

We extend heartfelt sympathy to those left to mourn her loss.

Mr. And Mrs. John Simon of Farley, Iowa, Mr. And Mrs. R. J. Drexler of Farley, Iowa, Catherine Stanton of Woonsocket, So. Dak., Mrs. Josie Feeney and daughter Mary of Mason City, Mrs. Dan Calahan, Mrs. James Curley and Mike Curley of Rockwell, Iowa, Mr. And Mrs. Eugene Brannon of Waterloo, Mr. And Mrs. Glenn Ralph of Mason City, Mrs. Clara Scholl and daughters Mildred and Bernice of Mason City, Mrs. Al Marshall of Marble Rock, Mr. And Mrs. Frank Galligan of Calmar, Andrew Barnes, Evelyn Barnes, Mrs. Victor Merrick, Donald Barnes of Cresco and Mr. And Mrs. Alvin Barnes of Fort Dodge.
